NITROSCOPE

Systemic solutions for accurately quantifying and managing European nitrogen fluxes to improve Nitrogen Use Efficiency and reduce losses.

General Objective

The general objective of NitroScope is to deliver systemic solutions for accurately quantifying and managing European nitrogen fluxes to improve Nitrogen Use Efficiency (NUE) and reduce losses from nitrate leaching and N₂O emissions. This will be achieved through enhanced monitoring across 100 data collection sites, 20+ farms and 5 pilot sites, supported by improved sensors, remote sensing and upgraded N₂O measurement methods. A unified database and cloud platform will strengthen reporting, while region-specific emission factors and model-based decision support will be developed through an integrated modelling ensemble. NitroScope will also test improved N management practices and deploy two farm-management add-ons to actively engage land managers in reducing N losses across Europe.

ena's Role in NITROSCOPE

ena Development Consultants leads WP7 (Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation) in NitroScope, ensuring the effective visibility, uptake and long-term impact of project results. ena is responsible for developing and implementing the communication and dissemination strategy, managing the project's visual identity and digital presence, and coordinating outreach activities across European and international audiences.

In addition, ena leads the project's exploitation and sustainability planning, supporting the translation of scientific outputs into usable tools, policy recommendations and market-relevant solutions. ena also plays a central role in stakeholder engagement, fostering links with EU initiatives, networks and policymakers, particularly in alignment with the EU Soil Mission and the Soil Deal for Europe, to maximise NitroScope's impact beyond the project lifetime.

Impact & Results

NitroScope delivers systemic solutions for managing nitrogen fluxes across Europe, contributing to improved soil health, reduced emissions and sustainable agriculture aligned with the EU Soil Mission.
